Goose Honors Fan Who Fell to His Death at MSG Show

Goose is honoring a fan who fell to his death at a Madison Square Garden show over the weekend.

According to the New York Daily News, 51-year-old Paul Kueker of Connecticut was attending Goose’s show at MSG on Saturday, June 20 with his wife to celebrate their early 25th wedding anniversary. Per the New York Post, Kueker reportedly left his seat to find a restroom and fell from a spot on the third level of the venue, landing in Section 102. The New York Police Department observed Kueker “unconscious and unresponsive.”

The publication noted that officials roped-off the area and relocated fans to alternate seating.

Goose took to social media following the show, writing that they are “deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show” and “extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected.” Another post followed on Sunday, where Goose elaborated, adding that “we are all reeling following the events that occurred at last night’s show.”

“Getting off stage to learn that news was devastating for us and our crew and we cannot imagine how some of you left the show feeling last night,” Goose wrote. “We want to make all our fans and friends aware of some resources available to them.”

The band included local and national hotline numbers to reach counselors:

  • 9-8-8: Crisis and support hotline that connects callers to counselors anywhere in the country, 24/7, by call, text, or chat.

  • NAMI NYC 212-684-3264 offers free local support
  • The national NAMI HelpLine (1-800-950-6264) can connect you to an affiliate anywhere in the country if you need help outside NYC

Additionally, the band is working to host community gatherings with licensed therapists and grief counselors present. Those interested can RSVP here, with more details to be shared this week.

Goose added that while they considered whether or not they should play their Sunday gig in Central Park, they ultimately decided that “the best thing we can do right now is bring our community together, lean on one another and offer a space for healing.”

“So let’s be kind to each other tonight and remember our friend,” Goose wrote.

The band said they are working with Western Sun Foundation to establish a fund, providing support and resources to fans. Additional details will be announced in the coming days. Sunday’s show also benefited Western Sun Foundation’s fan support fund.

During the Central Park gig, Goose frontman Peter Anspach told the crowd that he extends “our deepest condolences to Paul, his family, his friends, and everyone who was affected by what happened.”

“In moments like this, you realize life is so fragile and we’re so lucky to have an incredible community here around us,” Anspach said. “Everybody, if you’re struggling with something, please don’t be afraid to reach out to somebody in your life or send us a message. Please. We got to help each other out. That’s why we’re here. People are meant to talk and be with people.”
