More Shows Added by Popular Demand
By Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
With the first leg of the Police’s North American tour behind them and their European tour well underway through Oct. 19, ticket demand has resulted in six more concerts dates in North America this fall — New York; Washington, DC; Charlottesville, VA; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta; and San Antonio, TX, with additional shows in New York and Atlanta.
Police fan club pre-sales for the six news shows begin today, Sept. 12.
When they return to North America on Oct. 31, they will play their fifth sold out New York City area appearance, and a sixth and final 2007 concert in New York is confirmed for Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden. They’ll also be making return visits to Toronto, Boston, Montreal and Philadelphia and an appearance in Atlantic City . . .
Later this year, The Police will play dates in Mexico and South America followed by 2008 performances in New Zealand and Australia, with Japanese appearances still to be announced. A total of 2.2 million tickets have been sold to date.
Special guest Fiction Plane will again join The Police for the North American portion of the tour. Fiction Plane’s bassist by the way, is Sting’s son Joe Sumner.
Best Buy is the presenting sponsor of the North American tour, and a portion of the tour’s proceeds will be donated to WaterAid, an international Non-Government Organization (NGO) founded in 1981 and dedicated to reducing poverty by improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education.
The Police World Tour is produced by The Next Adventure, A Live Nation Company in association with RZO Entertainment, Inc.
