Las Vegas is about to get another Evel Knievel-sized spectacle.
To mark the grand opening of OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar and the start of Caesars Palace’s 60th anniversary year, 12-time X Games medalist Colby Raha will attempt a world-record motorcycle jump over the resort’s famed Front Fountains on Sunday, May 17 at 2 p.m.
The stunt will take place at the same iconic site where Evel Knievel made his legendary 1967 jump attempt, one of the most famous moments in motorcycle stunt history. Raha, who is also the founder of live-action sports brand Record Breakers, is aiming to soar more than 100 feet vertically, surpassing his own world record for highest motorcycle jump.
“Attempting a jump at the same location where Evel Knievel made his historic attempt carries real meaning,” Raha said. “It’s an opportunity to push limits at one of the most iconic locations in stunt history at one of the most iconic resorts in Las Vegas.”
The record attempt will cap a high-profile opening weekend for OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar, Tao Group Hospitality’s new 46,000-square-foot entertainment complex on Las Vegas Boulevard. The venue opens with a three-day run of major DJ programming: Fisher performs Friday, May 15, Rüfüs du Sol plays a rare DJ set Saturday, May 16, and Martin Garrix closes the weekend Sunday, May 17.
Raha’s jump will be visible above the new dayclub, giving opening weekend guests a front-row view of the stunt from inside the venue.
Tao Group Hospitality Co-CEO Jason Strauss called the jump a fitting Vegas debut for the new venue.
“OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar is already setting a new standard for what Las Vegas daylife can be, and there’s no better way to announce that to the world than with Colby Raha launching over the same fountains that made Evel Knievel a legend,” Strauss said.
Caesars Palace, which opened in 1966, is using the spectacle to kick off its 60th anniversary year with a nod to one of the property’s most infamous historic moments. Members of the Knievel family are supporting the event, according to the announcement.
